Background:
"I actually got started in cycling because of another sport. I rode stationary bikes for cardio training when I wrestled in college over in Kenosha, Wisconsin. After an injury I bought a road bike to keep my fitness up and from there the sport chose me. I was 100-percent hooked and loved every minute of riding. Kenosha has a big track-cycling following and one of the guys who went to school with me saw me on the bike training and wanted to know if I raced. At first I was reluctant, but he reassured me that if it wasn’t what I wanted to do, no hard feelings. I said to myself, "What do I got to lose?" He invited me to his team's gym facility and they hooked up me and my bike to a trainer and they slapped a mask and some monitors on me. They basically said to go as hard as you can for as long as you can. I literately went until I puked a lung. Apparently, they thought I did well and they offered me a spot on their team. From there the rest is history."
