After arriving in the United States only days earlier, Rafael Meran won the NYC Spring Series (Race #6) in Brooklyn. There was a selection that included many of the New York favorites, and Rafael won the small-group sprint to take his first victory with his team mates.
He then followed that victory with a top spot in the next-day's race at Floyd Bennett Field in a race that blew to pieces due to severe-wind conditions.
