The team raced in the Univest Grand Prix, a UCI race (UCI 1.2) that attracts an international field. Historically in the road race, the early breakaways collect the mid-race prizes (KoM and sprint points) while the winners come out of the field, with selections being made on the in-town circuits. This year's race, however, worked out differently; the early breakaway and chase groups gained time significant enough to deny the field entry into the closing circuits.

Eugene was one of those in the leading groups. He was in an 8-man group that was six minutes behind the leaders, while the peloton was another three minutes back. There were many selections made in the final miles, with Eugene finishing 17th, the day's last finisher.
