Last week, Jared and Eugene travelled to Wisconsin to compete in the Superweek series. They raced for 7 days straight and earned NRC points, two top-10 finishes, and a fair amount of prize money. The first race-day was a road race, but the other 6 were all the same: 100k, flat, fast criteriums.

On the 3rd day, Jared finished 5th in the Howard Cycling Classic. A group of 4 riders got away mid-race and finished ahead of the field. But behind, another group formed; Jared had attacked after a prime sprint, and three others joined him. In the final laps, the Rock Racing team chased, but only caught Jared's group after the finish line. And Jared beat his breakaway companions to finish 5th.

On the 6th day, Eugene finished 9th in the Great Downer Avenue Race. A group of 6 riders escaped early in the race and lapped the field. But the fun was still ahead. A crowd prime had been announced after turn #1. The prize was organized independently from the race itself, and the amount was unknown (but was rumored to be a few thousand dollars). Late in the race, the information was released: 5 laps to go, $3700 (but with 15 laps remaining in the race). The fight for this prize was intense, with all of the sprinters battling for position in the laps leading into the super-fast sprint. Rahsaan Bahati (Rock Racing) won the prize from a long, single-file line of riders-- and he celebrated as if he had won the Tour itself. But then the attacks started. Eugene got away with two other riders while the sprinters and their teams collected themselves. They finished ahead of the field (but behind the original breakaway) with Eugene getting 9th.
