Amauri, Eugene and Marty raced in Pennsylvania this Saturday, and came up with a top-10 finish. The course was on open farmland in Lancaster County-- it was hilly and windy.
There was an early breakaway that had Jame Carney, Eugene (GS Mengoni), Lisban Quintero (CRCA/Empire), and Colin Sandberg (Meredith Group). They stayed away for about 50 miles, gaining a maximum advantage of about 4 minutes on the field. But behind them, were many strong riders who wanted to get to the front of the race. Eventually a group of about 10 came across to the leaders. When the two groups joined, Carney attacked and John Loehner (CRCA/Empire) bridged across to him, while the rest of the group tried to get reorganized. With the two lead riders increasing their gap, the riders in the second group began attacking each other and there was some re-shuffling, splitting the group even further. In the end, Carney and Loehner stayed away, finishing together with Carney taking the win. Behind, John Minturn (Meredith Group) got away to finish 3rd, while Eugene came in 7th with the next group.
