Peter was accepted to ride on the u-23 US National Team for the 2007 season. The team (sponsored by VMG) will be racing both domestically and abroad under the direction of Chann McRae (former professional cyclist). When racing locally, however, Peter will race with his hometown team, GS Mengoni.

Peter's selection on the national team was based on several criteria: Early in the 2006 season, he attended a national-team training camp in Texas. It was there that he showed that he was strong enough for consideration. He then traveled with the junior national team to race in Belgium, where he showed his ability to race at a high level. Later in the season, after scoring several good road-racing results, he won the criterium at the Junior National Championships.
