New Britain Criterium,
Connecticut
Jason Bremer and Pollo won
twice in the
day, for the 2nd year in a row, and it was Pollo's 3rd consecutive
victory at the New Britain Criterium!
In the 30+ (age category) race, Jason Bremer jumped away from the
field late in the race and stayed clear for the victory. He won by a
narrow margin, as the 2nd place finisher was only half a wheel
behind him at the line.
Then in the Pro,1,2,3 race, Roselvert "Pollo" Marte was in a
6-man breakaway that stayed away until the finish. From that group,
Pollo won.
Jason had this to say:
"The P/1/2/3 field was much better this year than last with the
field being about 70-80 guys strong. Also this year there were much
stronger teams as well as stronger guys than last year. To name a
few there was of course us, Pollo, Lisban and me, Team Nerac being
headed by Adam Hodges Myerson, Louis Garnaeu, Johnathan Page from
Colavita Bolla, Melito Heridia, Jason Snow, Eric Murphy from
Aerospace Engineering just to name a few.
"The race was aggressive from the gun with a big group of 15 guys
getting away on the 2nd lap. [L]ittle groups kept getting away and I
did my best to close them down or keep them in check but after the
3rd hard chase my head exploded and I fell off the pace and watched
from the sidelines for the last laps. Luckily right when I fell off
and went to sidelines to lick my wounds, Pollo made it across to a
small move with 3 other guys to form the winning break of 6. They
proceeded to gain time on the field with the help of no teams really
to interested in doing to much work. The field did give chase but
were only able to bring it to 25 seconds until they gave up with
only 3 laps remaining. In the break Pollo won the sprint for the win
and Lisban won the field sprint for 7th."
