Podium Place in the Cherry Blossom Series -

Sunday's race in Newark was the final showdown of the
Cherry Blossom Series. The
series title was up for grabs, since Marty Nothstein (Navigators) and
Rafael Urzedowski (High Gear Cyclery), who held 1st and 2nd places
respectively, were not present. 3rd and 4th places were held by Ben
Lindsay (Ideal Tile) and Jason Schneider (G.S.Mengoni). The race was
fast and dynamic, and Lou Schimmel (Northeastern Hardware) beat Edwin
Bull (Colavita) to the line to win both the day's race and the series.
Behind Schimmel and Bull, Jason pipped Lindsay on the line to tie on
points but overtake Lindsay for 3rd overall. Jason was later quoted as
saying, "I had good legs today and I felt that something special would
happen. The team rode well, so they must have felt it too."
