Eugene Boronow won the Tour of Newark for the second consecutive year. Coming in 2nd was Mengoni rider Peter Salon, who soloed in-between Eugene and the breakaway group, while Gavi Epstein  sprinted the breakaway group for 8th.

Eugene joined a breakaway group, of about 12 riders, that got away early in the race. Behind them, Peter was trying to get across in different ways with different riders, with little success. Later, Gavi joined Peter with two others, and the four made it across to the lead group. There were many attacks late in the race and with 6 miles to go, Eugene got away alone and held the gap until the finish. Behind him, Peter also got away and soloed in for 2nd. The other 14 riders sprinted in, and Gavi got 8th. The field came in about 40 seconds later.
